amaranthus
Did You Know?
Most flower beaders are familiar with Tomato's lavendar pattern. If you haven't visited this Japanese site before it's a must see!

This technique can be also be used to create amaranthus (Love Lies Bleeding). This is a droopy tassel like flower in red or green which makes a great addition to arrangements particular when the hang down along the pot or vase. In red amaranthus would make a wonderful addition to a Halloween arrangement.

Make the loops as you would for the lavender but make them much longer and mount them to an 18 or 20 gauge stem wire so it's droopy. You can use just one or mount several on a stem wire.

Beaded Flowers in Martha Stewart Living
The May 2005 issue of Martha Stewart Living has a gorgeous six page article on collecting beaded flowers. Included are beautiful displays of beaded flowers in the home of a collector.

Also featured are beaded safety pin baskets with beaded flowers. You can often find the safety pin baskets on ebay. There's one on ebay where the bidding is currently at $78!! Search for "beaded safety pin basket" for examples. Kits are available if you'd like to make your own. Here are two sites I found just by searching google for "beaded safety pin basket." Artcove.com and Bolek's Craft Supply
(Note: I'm not familiar with either of these vendors.)
