Beaded Flower Gallery

by Vicky Anderson

Vicky Anderson taught herself to bead flowers two years ago. Until then, her favorite hobby was hardanger embroidery - also self taught. Now she makes the flowers and the doily to display them on.

Each flower shown is a variation of a pattern, except the flag which Vicky designed along with flag ornaments that look like miniature wind socks. The mums are from a Russian book and the lavender arrangement is mostly from Virginia Nathanson's Making Bead Flowers and Bouquets. The rest are in Wasley and Harris' Bead Design, which Vicky found used on-line - very expensive!

Vicky is a single mom of 2 young men, 18 and 21. She has a very busy career with th e State of Washington. When the boys were little, their weekend nap time was her hobby time. Now, Vicky's younger son enjoys bragging to his girl friends and showing them all her flowers and has even helped with display ideas. Vicky's office is decorated with her grandmother's paintings, her hardanger, and now with her beaded flowers. They add a personal touch to her professional life.

Vicky also just finished designing a poppy pattern and is currently designing an exotic flower (which has no name yet) from a painting. She promises to send pictures when they are completed (and when she learns to use her digital camera).
